Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lil’ Drug Store Products is a trusted health and beauty care product supplier to the convenience store and travel industry. As our long-term customer and fellow Iowa-based business, we’ve always felt a special kinship with Lil’ Drug Store Products. This sentiment was especially true when in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Cedar Rapids was struck by a devastating natural disaster, with winds up to 140 mph and city-wide power outages spanning several weeks.

CHALLENGE

The Lil’ Drug Store Products team needed to get to the warehouse to ensure operations continued smoothly and safely despite the challenging circumstances. But, with gas stations closed or out of fuel, the warehouse team struggled to commute to work, challenging the company’s recovery efforts. That’s when Doran & Ward Packaging stepped in to help.

SOLUTION

We devised a plan to support and assist the Lil’ Drug Store Products warehouse team. We purchased and filled several 5-gallon gas tanks and brought large coolers, bagged ice, and food supplies for warehouse staff while at work. We loaded our company van and drove it to the Lil’ Drug Store Products warehouse. Working with the Lil’ Drug Store Products Director of Purchasing, we assisted in filling the warehouse teams’ gas tanks and providing bags of ice to salvage their food at home.
